In December 2007, Monroe City Council authorized the beginning of a comprehensive planning update process. The City uses
comprehensive planning to identify development issues and to design detailed solutions which guide desired City policy and outline
goals and action steps. The process will be guided by a Steering Committee of representatives from Monroe government, business,
institutions, non-profits, and real estate development sectors. Planning consultants from Poggemeyer Design Group, Inc. (PDG) will
be assisting the Steering Committee with the preparation of the comprehensive planning update.
Members of the City of Monroe Planning Steering Committee include:
• Kevin Chesar, City of Monroe Director of Development
• Stan Kappers, institutional representative/Mt. Pleasant
