Local Design Firm Ranks 2nd in the State
Poggemeyer Design Group, Inc., a local architectural and engineering firm headquartered in Bowling Green, was recently featured in Builders Exchange Magazine’s ranking of Top 20 A&E Firms in Ohio. Firms were ranked according to the number of active projects in Builders Exchange’s research database at the end of the first quarter of 2009. Poggemeyer was listed second in the state, just three projects shy of the top ranked firm.
Locally, the firm is working on the Lucas County Arena, renovations to Centennial Terrace in Sylvania, and several capital improvements for The University of Toledo, Owens Community College and the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority.
Greg Telecky, Managing Principal of Poggemeyer, indicated he believes diversity has been one of the firm’s key elements to maintaining business in spite of current economic conditions.
“With experts in architecture, planning and various aspects of engineering, we are able to pursue a variety of projects instead of being locked into one or two disciplines,” noted Telecky. “We also have several grant specialists on staff to help our clients take advantage of various funding opportunities. Without this niche, many of our projects would never make it beyond the conception phase. And fortunately for us, we have great clients who are committed to making important improvements for their communities and organizations.”
“A lot of credit also goes to our employees,” said Jack Jones, Principal Owner and Chairman of the Board. “They do an exceptional job of keeping up to date on current design methods and work closely with our clients to develop projects that meet their unique goals.”
Jones noted 10-percent of the firm’s staff has completed a national accreditation process for high-performance, sustainable design, and several others were in the certification process.
Poggemeyer has 13 offices throughout the United States, six of which are in Ohio. The firm has been in business for more than 40 years, serving government, commercial, industrial and private sector clients, and is ranked among the nation=s top 500 design firms according to Engineering News-Record Magazine.
Builder’s Exchange was founded in 1881 and provides a wide variety of services specific to the construction industry, including a construction reporting service, buyer’s guide, directories, plan room services and an education center. The Top 20 article was feature in its May 2009 magazine edition.
