Toledo Marina District

Poggemeyer Design Group designed a 77-slip, full-service municipal marina, access roads, and 15,000 s.f. passenger terminal building for the City of Toledo and Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority. The projects were funded in part by grants from the US Fish & Wildlife and the Transportation Enhancement Program (TEP) through the State of Ohio. PDG also played an integral role in the conceptualization and preliminary engineering, surveying, evaluation of existing infrastructure, and traffic studies. The marina project was complicated by a constrained site, relocation of main power feeding the downtown business district, connection to the existing 35-foot deep sanitary sewer, and an aggressive design schedule. PDG is currently assisting Dillin Corporation with further development of the Marina District.

PDG Supports New Outdoor World Store

PDG has been retained by Bass Pro Shops of Springfield, Missouri, to provide the civil and landscape architectural design components for the proposed Bass Pro Outdoor World Store and new roadway and utility systems in the City of Rossford. PDG's expertise and relationships with the local and state agencies are permitting the project to move forward with the design and approval process at a pace unseen by Bass Pro on similar projects. Through constant communications initiated by PDG on behalf of Bass Pro, local jurisdictions are kept up to date on design progress while Bass Pro is kept abreast on unique local conditions that could affect its schedule for opening the new store.

The proposed attractive 150,000 square foot store and restaurant will occupy 28 acres that will position the store for maximum visibility from Interstate 75 while the main entrance will face the rest of the 300 acres of land purchased. The proposed store is the anchor for anticipated complementary retail, entertainment and other mixed use opportunities. As part of the initial development of the 230 acre parcel of land, Bass Pro will also be installing over 7000 feet of upgraded storm, water, sanitary and roadways improvements. The Rossford, Ohio, store represents the first such business to utilize a recent state legislative program that was passed to attract regional "Impact Developments" to the State of Ohio by offering sales tax incentives to the businesses. ...more
