PDG worked closely with the City of Oregon to move forward with waterfront development initiatives developed as part of the Citys Comprehensive Plan. During the comprehensive planning process, the need to more fully capitalize on the Lake Erie waterfront was identified which led to the concept of developing a boardwalk adjacent to a city park and community center. After several attempts to secure funding from different sources, and modifying the original project scope, funding was secured through the NatureWorks program for this project.
The new boardwalk, which was completed in August 1999, improves and beautifies approximately 600 feet of Lake Erie Shoreline with a pedestrian walkway, access points to the water, decorative lighting, and outdoor furniture. This project will also stabilize the shoreline, dissipate wave action with unique rip rap design, and provide various landscape treatments between the shoreline and Bay Shore Road.

Downtown Square

PDG was the prime consultant for this project which includes both the conceptual design and detailed engineering plans for upgraded sidewalks, lighting and electrical services for the public square in downtown Troy. The conceptual phase defined the design elements for the square and surrounding blocks. The design incorporates a distinctive Greek key pattern in concrete pavers that reflects the Greek Revival architecture of the surrounding buildings. A modern metal halide lighting system is combined with neo-classical cast iron poles that eliminate unsightly overhead wiring and provide improved power service for summertime festivals. |
